The collective voice of māori
‘One thought, one voice’ He whakaaro tahi, he reo kotahi
The Maori Community Leaders Forum was established as a result of the September 2010 and subsequent earthquakes giving the general Māori population in Canterbury and the greater region a collective voice in the recovery rebuild of our city Ōtautahi. Its purpose is to ensure that Maori provide strategic leadership and outcomes advice, guidance and direction to Local and Central government and non-government agencies for our city – Ōtautahi alongside Ngai Tahu.
We acknowledge local mana whenua and Ngai Tahu iwi and wherever possible give our full support to their decisions, aspirations and plans. Of significant importance is the Forums endorsement to engage in a collaborative approach with all for a healthy, sustainable and resilient future.
