Youth Services

What is Youth Service (NEET)?

Youth Service NEET is a service designed to help 16 and 17 year olds. Our vision is that young people stay in, or get back into education, training, or into work based learning.

We want young people to have the skills to get a job that will help them have a better life and a career. This service and assistance we offer is completely free with no hooks as participation is entirely voluntary.

There are many providers throughout New Zealand delivering this service and in Canterbury we have a collective of providers who are working closely together delivering Youth Service NEET.

Canterbury providers

Youth Service providers are organisations working in our local community. They are used to working with young people and know where to get the services needed. Youth Coaches are mentors who come from a wide range of backgrounds and have a lot of skills when it comes to working with young people.

Te Runanga o Nga Maata Waka are the primary contract holder for Youth Service NEET in Canterbury. We have subcontracted five other providers who together cover Christchurch City, Selwyn District and Ashburton District delivering Youth Service NEET. They are:

  • Academy Group Ltd.
  • Avonmore Tertiary institute
  • Motivationz Ltd.
  • Two Rivers Community Trust
  • YMCA – South and Mid-Canterbury
